This shouldnt be called "Take back the block"
It should be called "give away the block"
Or better yet.
"Give it to a friend and tell them they are tax exempt"

I have a few thoughts.

If the Town of Huntington is not allowed to represent the residents due to a contempt of court issue then why are the residents not filing litigation claiming a failure to be properly represented?

Second, I understand there is already a list of potential lottery winners who will claim any subsidized housing.
If so, how can this be if this list was created 20+ years ago.?

Third, why is it that it would appear the winners of these lotteries are directly related to those providing the service?
look here: <a href="http://town.huntington.ny.us/newsdetails.cfm?id=697" rel="nofollow">http://town.huntington.ny.us/newsdetails.cfm?id=6...</a>

According to that article
For more information about the home, contact Susan Lagville,
Executive Director of Housing Help Inc. at (631) 754-0373.

Now do a search on the property: <a href="http://people.switchboard.com/results.php?ReportType=33&qi=0&qk=10&qp=6312711934" rel="nofollow">http://people.switchboard.com/results.php?ReportT...</a>
Why is this?
Maybe there is a reasonable explanation?

Dig deeper:
switchboard.com/results.php?ReportType=34&qa=32+east+6th+street&qc=Huntington&qhn=32&qi=0&qk=10&qs=NY&qst=E+6TH+ST

Who is "Monique Agudio? <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/pub/monique-agudio/1b/925/55b" rel="nofollow">http://www.linkedin.com/pub/monique-agudio/1b/925...</a>

So we have a service provider providing real estate opportunities to...hmm.. themselves?

This smells a bit corrupt.
But hey, maybe I am wrong.

Forcing this development down the residents throats through the courts is the wrong way to do it. No one wants affordable housing in northport. Just look at Freeport, Hempstead, and now Huntington. No Thanks. GO AWAY

I'd like to know, if this "affordable housing" / project goes through can my neighbors and i tear down our homes and build 14.5 units on our 1 acre lots and call it "affordable housing" too. I think not maybe we will get attorneys and try anyway!

This Project would destroy an area that is residential and settled to its maximum population density. Any further building for apartment sized units would lead to very serious overcrowding of the schools, hospitals, library's and shopping centers and other services that are overcrowded now. To say nothing about parking and traffic control that is at full capacity now. The serious traffic that would result from the intersection where this proposal would center, includes the high school and surrounding homes that would create backups for miles on one of the busiest intersections in the entire area. On top of that it would overtax the waste treatment services available as well as the water systems. The entrances and exits from these apartments would center right at the center of one of the busiest roads, Pulaski rd and Elwood rd and block traffic for people coming and going to work and shopping. It is a very bad proposal and should be defeated. That land should be set aside as unusable for building purposes. Pretty soon we will have no vacant land to help with water absorption or plant growth for the water table.
